• The National Theatre of Scotland have raised the stakes - with a major tour of work to New York, inspiring community projects happening across the country and celebrated national remount touring
• Devised and Site specific work have come to the fore drawing large audiences and popularity
• There is raised awareness among Scottish theatre makers of the potential of International touring and collaboration.
  

The challenge is on for the Scottish theatre community to question current practice, advance and grow.

Three Scottish practitioners reflect on these issues, with discussion to follow.

This symposium examines contemporary theatre made in three languages, Irish Gaelic, Welsh and Scottish Gaelic. Inspirational speakers from Ireland, Wales and Scotland reflect on the theatre they make in their indigenous language – and how their theatre contributes to language and artistic development in their country.  Discussion to follow. 
 


Playwright's Studio Scotland - Illuminate: Ways and Means -Symposium

Illuminate is a series of annual events investigating varying aspects of contemporary theatre practice, as part of the Playwrights’ Studio’s commitment to exploring and developing the art-form of theatre.
Ways and Means is a one day symposium looking at ways of working with Playwrights in theatre by different means. The day is for playwrights and other professional theatre practitioners, and also open to members of the public interested in the subject.

Guest speakers from all over the UK will lead this exploration with a particular focus on
• Generation of Text; who does it, how and when?
• Wider contexts; who are you making work for and with? What process works?
• Method of engagement; how do you engage writers? 

Focus sessions will include:
Scottish Society of Playwrights - Contracts for a range of theatre making processes
Cultural Enterprise Office - Project planning to lead your own creative process.

Also joining us will be representatives from Creative & Cultural Skills, literaturetraining, and more…

The day will run from 11am – 5.00pm.
